Sustainability strategic plan 2022 - 2024

Our Sustainability Strategic Plan is made up of objectives and concrete actions to be achieved in both short- and medium- term. These objectives and actions define the steps that Rold needs to undertake in order to be able to contribute to the sustainable development.

This Sustainability Strategic Plan has been created by adopting a participatory approach. It has been designed according to our capabilities with the aim of setting up tangible objectives that could be impactful and achievable. This Plan will steer our choices in terms of investments and efforts in Research and Development and Innovation: this is the sole manner to achieve the objectives we have identified by means of well-defined actions, measurable against KPIs.

"Enable a sustainable Rold ecosystem through"

Coherent Governance

As a first step towards a more coherent and pervasive approach towards sustainability, Rold has decided to set up the Sustainability Committee. The aim of this committee is to coordinate the Rold activities against the Sustainability Strategic Plan and monitor the progress against the KPIs. The Sustainability Committee is made up of 9 members, from diverse areas of the company. The Committee will update the Board about progresses and foreseen actions every 3 months.

Within this Pillar, we have identified as priority to revise and update the Code of Conduct and all the internal procedures. In the meanwhile, all the necessary activities will be planned and carried out in order to achieve the ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental management systems.

To enhance and strengthen the commitment of all people in Rold, we will define MBO related to the achievement of sustainability goals in the next two years.

Even if we have always paid attention to all the aspects related to the Diversity&Inclusion, we have never formalized our approach in written documents. Therefore, we have decided to start defining procedures in order to make our commitment well-defined and clear for everyone in Rold.

In order to reduce the environmental impact of our production processes, we truly believe that it is important to work in synergy with entities across the whole value chain. Therefore, we will foster the creation of partnerships with suppliers and customers. The first step will be the organization of round tables to study and develop novel solutions aiming at reducing the impact due to the packaging, the use of raw materials, the development of circular solutions. In parallel, Rold will focus on the reduction of our production process internally starting from monitoring the Co2 equivalent emission and then setting accordingly the targets to meet in order to incrementally become clime-neutral.

9.4 – By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities

Rold is made up of all the people working here. It is for this reason that, over the years, we have launched initiatives aiming at enhancing the life/work balance. With the objectives of Pillar 3, we aim at strengthening this commitment and make Rold “people- and family- oriented”.

The activities will, therefore, focus on a steady monitoring of possible agreements to be made with local entities in order to spread the culture of prevention and in parallel organise diverse initiatives aiming at improving the well-being of people in Rold.

In addition, in order to deeply understand the sentiment and the happiness of the entire Rold population, we will submit surveys, so as to grasp the feelings and receive feedbacks and take mitigation actions, if needed.

Eventually, we aim at spreading more and more the importance of being a safe and secure working environment for all workers; not only to meet the current regulations but as a continuous approach. As a consequence, we will increase the number of training and awareness activities in the field.

One of the inputs collected during the Workshops on Agenda 2030 has been the need for a continuous improvement of both hard and soft skills. Therefore, we decided to devote an entire Pillar to all the training and education activities, to ensure a quality education, for all, at all ages. During these three years we aim at enhancing hard skills needed to carry put the activities in Rold as well as at improving foreign language capabilities and digital skills.

Cross-contamination among the diverse areas of Rold is fundamental to generate knowledge and innovation. Therefore, we will organise at least 2 events per year aiming at spreading our vision and strengthening our ability to share points of view.

Thanks to the strong commitment of Laura Rocchitelli, our CEO and Daniela Colantropo, our HR manager, we have been one of the companies founder of the initiative “STEAMiamoci” aiming at promoting concrete actions to reduce gender gap by means of a steady dissemination on the STEM topics. In line with this we aim at organising events targeting children of Rold people and in a second moment also outside the scope of Rold so as to increase the awareness and interest of young generation in STEM topics.

Rold devote every year around 8% of the total revenues in Research, development and Innovation.

Innovation is crucial for Rold in order to propose to our customers novel solutions that really meets their unmet needs and anticipate their wishes. In this perspective, the Pillar 5 is completely focused on innovation activities with the ultimate goal of concentrating our efforts more and more on solutions that could help us reducing our environmental impact and propose novel circular business models.

 

6.3 – By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally

To enable a more sustainable Rold ecosystem, it is necessary to undertake transformative changes that encompass all of us. For this reason, we have decided to search for new collaborations with representatives of our local community, trying to emphasize the work of local activities e.g local farmers.

Pillar 6 includes also all the volunteer initiatives targeting high schools, universities and NEETS (Not in Education, Employment or Training), thus increasing our involvement in the organization of training activities aiming at transferring our know-how and skills to young generations and enable them to enter the job market with a wider set of skills.
