LOOP-E:
Advancing Circularity in Home Appliances
through Digital Product Passports

The LOOP-E project (Lifecycle Optimization through Operational Digital Product Passports and Embedded intelligence), officially launched on October 1st, 2025, is a key experiment funded within the CIRCULOOS initiative. The latter is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme (Grant Agreement No. 101092295).

The Mission. Focusing on high-quality components manufactured by ROLD and integrated into BEKO Europe ovens, LOOP-E aims to transform the traditional linear manufacturing model into a circular, data-driven ecosystem.

Innovation in Action. By leveraging Simtera’s FabMetrics AloT platform and The Data Cooks’ AI modules, the project is implementing a real-time Digital Product Passport (DPP) that will be tested in the value chain between ROLD and BEKO Europe.

Key activities include:

  • Environmental Impact tracking. This will be done thanks to the integration in the Simtera’s solution of GRETA tool, which has been developed by CIRCULOOS. This will enable us to translate production signals into precise sustainability scores, such as footprint and energy efficiency.
  • Enabling Circular Strategies: Capturing material composition and usage history to facilitate smart refurbishment, repair, and recycling of components.
  • Supply Chain Transparency: Creating a secure data bridge between the component supplier (ROLD) and the appliance manufacturer (BEKO) to optimize product life cycles.
  • Future Impact: LOOP-E is designed to help the home appliance industry stay ahead of the upcoming EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), ensuring that “Made in Europe” remains synonymous with sustainability and digital innovation.
